Recently, Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Zhejiang announced the list of provincial-level high-efficiency eco-friendly farms (low-carbon farms) of 2025. Haiyan’s four farms made the list. Those four farms engage in grain production and aquaculture, which implies Haiyan has achieved new progress in developing modern green agriculture.

High-efficiency eco-friendly (low-carbon) farms serve as an important platform for developing green agriculture, controlling agricultural non-point source pollution, and facilitating emission reduction and carbon sequestration. By integrating ecological technologies, modern agricultural machinery and green concept, these farms balance stable production and cost reduction, minimize chemical fertilizers and pesticides, cut pollutant emissions, and intensively utilize resources, enhancing ecological environment and quality of agricultural products.

With a sown area of 41.33 hectares including over two hectares for grape, Minsheng Farm specializes in growing such grape varieties as Tiangong Moyu and Shine Muscat, which have obtained green food certification and are authorized to use Haiyan Geographical Indication for Grape. The farm is also engaged in rice-crayfish integrated farming. In 2025, its crayfish passed green food certification, the first agricultural entity passing this green food certification in Zhejiang, fully demonstrating its remarkable achievements in ecological farming.

Founded in 2011, Xinfu Farm has shifted from traditional grape growing to current rice-crayfish integrated farming. It raises crayfish in paddy fields and revitalizes idle land, stabilizing grain production and increasing rural incomes. In 2025, it achieved a crayfish yield of 300 kg and a rice yield of 550 kg per mu, with an average output value reaching 3,000 yuan and a net profit 1,000 yuan per mu, ensuring the stable grain production, income growth and ecological conservation.

Kaijie Family Farm has engaged in raising soft-shelled turtles for over 30 years, and now boasts 3.4 hectares of aquaculture ponds. For green development, it invested 1.5 million yuan to build a “three-pond, two-dam” aquaculture effluent treatment facility for 1,600 square meters of aquaculture ponds, enabling the recycling and up-to-standard discharge of aquaculture effluent. Ecological farming protects water environment and enhances local reputation of eco-friendly aquaculture.

Located in Economic Development Zone of Haiyan, Lyuyou Farm boasts a rice sown area of 66.7 hectares. It promotes modern agricultural technologies in pest control, unified rice seedling raising, mechanized rice transplanting, and drone seeding for large-scale standardized farming. It has upgraded the rice seedling center and other agricultural infrastructure to provide full-process mechanization and comprehensive farming services for local farmers. Thanks to advanced agricultural technologies, the farm has reduced chemical fertilizer use by 15% and increased grain yield by 5%, raising farmers’ incomes and boosting high-quality agricultural development.

In recent years, Haiyan has prioritized ecological and low-carbon development in the entire agricultural process, nurtured low-carbon agricultural entities, guided farms to improve planting models and supporting facilities, and promote advanced technologies to accelerate agricultural upgrading. It will further deepen green agricultural development, nurture more high-efficiency eco-friendly farms, widely adopt advanced agricultural technologies in ecological farming, water and fertilizer conservation, and agricultural recycling, improve services, and build a modern agricultural industrial system, eco-friendly and efficient, to support rural comprehensive revitalization and enhance agricultural modern level.
