Haiyan Produces Super Power Banks

Ordinary power banks are common, but a super power bank able to charge 65,000 standard 10,000 mAh power banks is rare. Yupont Smart Energy Technology (Jiaxing) Co., Ltd., in Haiyan, has developed two such super power banks, one of which stores enough electricity to power 500 households for a day. At the company’s smart energy storage workshop, we see its two core energy storage devices: a prefabricated cabin for DC-side energy storage, and an all-in-one machine for industrial and commercial energy storage, which are designed for grid-level, and industrial & commercial applications respectively. The first has a single-cabin storage capacity of 5,000 kWh, which is equivalent to the amount of electricity needed to run 5,000 one-kilowatt appliances simultaneously for one hour. Primarily used for grid peak shaving and frequency regulation, renewable energy integration, and independent energy storage for electricity market trading, it effectively stabilizes grid fluctuations and absorbs wind and solar power, so it acts as a “stabilizer” for new-type power systems. It has been used in multiple landmark projects across China, including grid-forming applications in Tibet, independent storage in Inner Mongolia, and shared storage in Jiangsu. The other is a “cost-saving device” for businesses. With a single-unit storage capacity of 261 kWh, it can cover half a day’s basic electricity consumption for a medium-sized factory. By “peak shaving and valley filling”, i.e., charging during nighttime off-peak hours when electricity rates are low, it significantly reduces corporate electricity costs. It is widely applicable in factories, data centers, and distribution network substations, and it has been delivered in bulk to the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions, as well as exported to Eastern Europe. Yupont Smart Energy Technology (Jiaxing) Co., Ltd., is a Haiyan-based subsidiary controlled by Beijing Yupont Electric Power Technology Co., Ltd. In 2024, it launched energy storage technologies and products. Its newly built Jinxing Energy Storage Industrial Park covers an area of about 3.8 hectares. Put into operation at the end of 2025, it specializes in R&D, manufacturing, and sales of large-scale source-grid-side and industrial & commercial distributed energy storage systems. With 20 years of experience in power systems and energy storage R&D, its core team is engaged in R&D, designs, and implementation of projects. In just two years, the team has delivered over 100 energy storage projects. The company now holds nearly 20 core patents covering key areas such as battery management, high-efficiency thermal management, and grid-forming algorithms, and all of its core components are independently developed. The company now is steadily advancing pre-research on solid-state transformers and has started to explore computing power collaboration. |
