Haiyan Weicheng Printing Co., Ltd. has organized a series of events for “Rural Artisan Weekend Workshop” of Haiyan. Guided by Zhu Wei, a municipal-level rural artisan, parents and their children toured the company’s production line and exhibition hall to learn about its development, and experience the entire process of cloth weaving on a traditional loom.

In the exhibition hall, various finished brocade products were neatly displayed, captivating the parents and their children with exquisite craftsmanship. Zhu Wei introduced the weaving history to help them understand traditional weaving culture, and explained them the functions and operational principles of each component of the operating loom.

Zhu Wei is the president of Haiyan Weicheng Printing Co., Ltd., and Jiaxing Yantian Woven Painting Culture Creativity Co., Ltd., the founder of full-color brocade label technology, a deputy secretary-general of Brocade Committee of Chinese Society of Arts and Crafts, and the executive director of Zhejiang Textile Engineering Society. “As a culture company, our participation in study tours enables more people to appreciate the cultural value embedded in brocades, which is highly meaningful,” said Zhu Wei.

Organized by Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Zhejiang, “Rural Artisan Weekend Workshop” servers as a platform for exchanges among rural artisans, children, farmers and traditional craft enthusiasts in the form of “theory plus practice”. It helps people gain a deeper appreciation for traditional skills and rural artisans’ charm, cultivates rural talent and upgrades local industries. This year, it plans to hold 10 sessions, with six already being completed. The participants made a study tour to Shi Xingfeng Rural Artisan Studio (Paper Art Gallery) - Haiyan’s only provincial-level rural artisan studio, and Shendang Soy Sauce and Rice Wine Making Co., Ltd., etc.

Through “Rural Artisan Weekend Workshop”, rural artisans can transcend urban and rural boundaries, and make their way to every corner of society with their exquisite skills. It is a good opportunity for the participants to familiarize themselves with the craftsmanship of rural artisans and experience their dedication, which is the true value of the Workshop.
