Grape is a famous agricultural product of Haiyan County. Recently, some merchants from Guangdong Province visited Jintengman Farm in Baibu to learn about local grape cultivation and discuss the cooperation on the overseas sales of Haiyan’ grape. Following a formal agreement, the Farm’s grape will be exported to Vietnam, marking Haiyan’s first attempt to export its grape to oversea markets. At Jintengman Farm, Li Qiuran, sales director of an agricultural development company of Guangdong, inquired about the sweetness, shape and quality of Shine Muscat grape with He Huming, a manager of the Farm. Before visiting Haiyan, Mr. Li had conducted field surveys in other regions and found Haiyan’s Shine Muscat grape met their procurement standards in terms of sweetness, shape, etc. This farm cultivates over 4.67 hectares of Shine Muscat grape this year, with an estimated annual output reaching around 250,000 kilograms. After the collaboration takes effect, these grape will be sold in Vietnamese supermarkets and convenience stores for approximately four months, and its overseas retail prices are projected to reach 120 yuan per kilogram. Focusing on “Improving grape variety, quality, brand and standardized production” and guided by the principle “stabilizing output, enhancing brands and strengthening publicity”, the county has in recent years implemented its “Standard 518” initiative for the Shine Muscat grape cultivation, encouraged producers to expand premium grape production and established traceability systems to maximize grape quality and economic returns. In addition to the Shine Muscat grape, a primary variety, the county also grows other varieties of grapes such as Red Globe, Summer Black, Golden Fragrance and Fujiminori. This year, the county’s total grape growing area spans approximately 1333.33 hectares, that of the Shine Muscat grape accounts for 60% of the total. |
