Economic Development Zone of Baibu (Baibu Town) has worked hard to support the elderly care and childcare, constantly improve service systems and set up exchange platforms to establish a high-quality elderly care and childcare service system to improve people’s well-being in recent years.

“The environment here is good with good facilities. Since the operation of this elderly care station, I come here every day to watch movies, chat with friends... I am very happy,” said Jiang Xianbao, a citizen nearby. As a “regular visitor” here, he said to the reporter that he used to go to the elderly care service center located at Baibu Community, but after he moved to Zijing Community, the distance to that elderly care service center was far away, so it was not convenient to go there. Now a new elderly care service center has been upgraded and put into operation, and it just take him a few minutes to walk there.

This upgraded service center possesses multifunctional facilities and elegant environment. With the service zones for life, entertainment, movies, reading and fitness, it is an ideal place for residents to read, play chess, etc., further enriching their life and cultural needs.

Based on the needs of the elderly care service and monthly “Heart-to-heart Service Day”, the Elderly Care Center of Zijing Community regularly organizes various activities like health lectures, handcraft making training, free haircuts to further meet the needs of the elderly such as recreation, health management and “one-stop” services. “Often, activities are organized here. Our life becomes more colorful. The staff here provide us with health knowledge. It is convenient for blood pressure and blood sugar testing. I feel very comfortable here,” said Xie Da, a local resident.

In order to meet multi-level needs of the elderly care services, Baibu actively makes innovations in terms of the elderly care service model to help the elderly enjoy their retirement life. Now this town has established an elderly care service center in all of its villages (communities), and two dinning venues for the elderly in Yingkang Nursing Home and Elderly Care Center of Wufeng, and has provided dinning services for more than 26,000 people, further extending  the elderly care services. This town has constructed the schools for the elderly near homes, for example, Broadway School for the Elderly offering the modeling courses for the elderly, established traditional Chinese Studies Forum and senior citizen bands, which has improved the elderly care service quality and created a good social atmosphere respecting the elderly.

Childcare helps people enjoy a happy life

“Good morning, Miss Ma.” At around 8 a.m., three-year-old Keke, taken by his mother Wang Dongmei, went to Baiheyuan Nursery School to start a happy day. “We have been looking for a suitable nursery school for my child. After learning this nursery school is in the enrollment period, we immediately come for signing up. After my kid was admitted, I went out to work. In the previous few months, my child has changed much. He is not only willing to take the initiative to communicate with parents, but also to help us do some small things,” Wang Dongmei said happily.

As the first public inclusive nursery institution in Baibu, this nursery school can provide professional health management and comprehensive and personalized early education services for infants aged from 18 months to 3 years, greatly reducing parents’ burdens. “We are a dual-earner family with two children. The teachers here are very responsible and take good care of our children. Our children are happy here, and we are relieved, so we can work with peace of mind,” said Wang Dongmei. There are many other dual-earner families like her. The nursery school reduces their parenting time and pressures.

Based on Baiheyuan Nursery, Henggang Kindergarten and Kindergarten of Economic Development Zone of Haiyan, Baibu is striving to create a “15-minute childcare service circle”. It has made every effort to build a targeted, diversified and high-quality childcare service system by combining inclusive and high-quality childcare services. In order to meet children’s diverse needs, this town has integrated its resources like Children Service Center, Women-Children Service Center and Sunflower Parent-child Center to create a children-friendly environment. Besides, it offers parents’ classes and makes knowledge popularization regularly to meet children’s needs of entertainment, study and training, making children’s life more colorful and vigorous.
