Recently, a delegation led by An Yabin, secretary-general of China Literature Foundation,  visited Haiyan to guide the county to build “A City of Literature” of China.

At the meeting, Wang Suishe, secretary of the CPC Haiyan County Committee, made a brief introduction of Haiyan’s history, culture and economic and social development. With over 1,000 years of history, Haiyan is a coastal city with clear rivers and lakes in the southern reaches of the Yangtze River Delta. It is culturally profound and famous for its large number of renowned figures. Recent years have witnessed local good economic and social development momentum. Now it is a national civilized city, a national demonstration county for ecological advancement and one of top 100 counties of China. He welcomed the delegation’s proposals and the county would put their valuable proposals into practice to constantly promote local literature and art development to a new level and achieve new progress.

An Yabin fully affirmed the county’s efforts in building “A City of Literature” of China. The CPC Haiyan County Committee and People’s Government of Haiyan County attached great importance to the work in this respect; the county should continue to work harder, further improve organizational structures, provide more supports and make real achievements based on firm foundations, effective measures and obvious progress; efforts should be made to build a strong team of literature workers, create favorable conditions and strong atmosphere for literary creation and set up more platforms for writers to improve themselves and display their achievements; efforts should be made to familiarize more people with and attract more people to participate in literary creation and form a good environment for every one to support and join the efforts to build “a city of literary” of China, according to An Yabin.

An Yabin and his delegation visited Modern Cultural Park of Shendang Barn, Shendang Brewing Co., Ltd., folk literature creation base of Shendang, Hanfen Literature Club of Yuanji Middle School and Haiyan Archive Center.

In recent years, the county has endeavored to develop regional literature based on in-depth research on history and culture and has obtained 15 research achievements. The county has deepened the inheritance of Song Culture, and built such cultural logos such as “Millennium Ganshui”, held culture activities such as “Haiyan · Nostalgia Poetry”, energized culture and arts, and created a strong atmosphere in favor of literature and music. The county has attached great importance to building a strong literary creation atmosphere and training writers. In recent two years, 11 local writers have become the members of the writer’s associations at and above the provincial level, the most in Jiaxing. The county has fully integrated advantageous resources to support literary creation, and inspired people to read and compose literary works in an effective way.
