Wanghai Sub-district is the north gate for Haiyan to integrate into Jiaxing, Shanghai and Hangzhou, and enjoys the best location, public services, and the strongest development potential.

Wanghai is a vigorous industrial city. On September 28, 2018, Wanghai Sub-district was established with a view to building a new industrial city. Based on its top-end equipment manufacturing, new-type display industry, electronics, information industry and food industry, Wanghai has worked to build a new-type national-level model display city with an annual output value of 10 billion yuan in the Yangtze River Delta (the only one in Zhejiang) in recent five years.

Wanghai is a culturally rich city with over 5,000 years of farm culture. In Wanghai, there is Weijia Village Site in the period of Liangzhu Culture ( about 5,300 to 4,000 years from now), Damiaoqiao Site in the period of the Shang Dynasty (1600 BC-1046 BC) and the Zhou Dynasty (1046 BC-256 BC), Qinglian Temple of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), Hongling Temple (rebuilt in 2005) of the Song Dynasty (960-1279), Guangsheng Sauce Shop of the Qing Dynasty (1636-1912), Daifeng Temple where the first Haiyan-based Party branch was established in 1940s. Besides you can appreciate the stories ever reported by People’s Daily on Seven-girl Experiment Team of Xinfu Village and rich intangible cultural heritage projects such as Dredging River Mud and Making New Year Cakes, which have been well protected and inherited. Now, many projects beneficial to the people have been put into operation like the first community-based pharmaceutical service station in Jiaxing, the first employment and entrepreneurship center for the disabled, the first characteristic outdoor base for issuing marriage certificates of Jiaxing. Many infrastructure projects have been constructed such as the rural museum, comprehensive cultural center, “Sportsman” smart sports community- “Beidang Community”, smart book bars and the first mass fitness center of Haiyan. Now Wanghai is a municipal-level excellent unit for its outstanding mass sports performance.

As is a habitable and wealthy city, Wanghai is well located and developed in river networks and transport systems. With Hangzhou-Pinghu-Shanghai Shipping Lane (Grade III), Haiyan-Jiaxing Highway and Hangzhou-Pudong Expressway, it is one-hour drives away from Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou and Ningbo. In recent years, it has achieved great progress in urban development and urban image. Here you can find thriving industrial parks, beautiful residential complexes, prosperous business zones, wide roads and busy Jiangyuan Port with numerous ships, and experience improving urban image and quality. Prioritizing green development, Wanghai is a provincial-level model town of with beautiful countryside, a “model sub-district” free of direct sewage discharges, an advanced collective in grain production zone protection and a municipal-level ecologically friendly demonstration sub-district. Its industrial park is one of the provincial-level rural demonstration parks integrating the primary, secondary and tertiary industries, and its farmland protection project has won a provincial-level incentive award. With a happy and comfortable life environment, Wanghai has established famous grassroots governance brands “Expectation” and “Acquaintance Community”, and grassroots governance mechanisms like “My Family”, “Ten Rules for Governance” and “Here’s Fellow-townsman”. Its conflict mediation model “135” has been included into municipal-level “Fengqiao Experience”, so it has been a municipal-level “Peaceful Sub-district” for five years.

Wanghai is a city of reform and innovation. Focusing on digital reforms, it has established an integrated APP “Intelligent Governance of Wanghai” for government departments and the Party organizations. It’s digital technologies-based performance evaluation model has been identified as one (the only one in Jiaxing) of the second provincial-level demonstration points for the performance evaluations of civil servants. As a representative, it made an exchange speech at the provincial-level meeting on regular performance evaluations of civil servants, and this model has been shared on the provincial-level public service platform “Home for Officials”. In 2023, its future factory APP “Digital and Smart Qinglian” won a provincial-level bronze award for reform achievements, and was identified as the “Best Application” for digital reform of Zhejiang and the “Best Application” of the digital economy field of Zhejiang, demonstrated at the provincial digital reform conference and published in “The Leaders”; and its “Qinglian Future Farm” was selected as one of the first future farms of Zhejiang. Wanghai has intensified efforts to advance common prosperity with a result that its “Warm Workshop” has been honored as one of the first provincial-level “Women’s Workshop for Common Prosperity”, Jiajiale Farm as one of the first provincial-level exemplary family farms, and Qinglian Food Workshop for Common Prosperity as one of the first provincial-level demonstration family farms for common prosperity. Its Beidang Community has been honored as one of the first provincial-level leading future communities in Haiyan and its elderly care service scenario as one of the first “Elderly Care and Child Care” scenarios for the basic units of common prosperity of Zhejiang.
