Recently, “A Dialogue between Jiangnan and Dunhuang”- an Art Exhibition on Kang Senghui’s Visit to Liuli Tea House at the End of Eastern Han Dynasty was held in Li Zihou Painting and Calligraphy Academy of Haiyan (Jiangnan refers to the regions south of the Yangtze River). This exhibition is made up of eight units such as “Kang Senghui’s Visit to Haiyan”, “River Flowing West”, “A Glimpse of Dunhuang”, “Wonderful Qiantang River” and “Silk Road Culture”. The exhibits include the old pictures of original Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes, West Lake Grottoes, the copies of Dunhuang Murals, and the stone tablets and bronze letters from Jinsu Temple. As an important cultural node along the Silk Road, Dunhuang is famous for its unique murals and sculptures. Jinshu Temple has a long historical relationship with Dunhuang culture. 1,770 years ago, Kang Senghui - a Buddhist monk constructed Jinshu Temple in Haiyan, actually the earliest Buddhist temple in Jiangnan. The story of Kang Senghui is recorded in Dunhuang Cave No. 323. “A dialogue between a silk town Haiyan with a Silk Road city Dunhuang is a dialogue between history and reality, legends and stories, and integrates the art of Dunhuang into the culture of Jiangnan,” said Cheng Xuefeng, chairman of Artist Association of Haiyan, also president of Li Zihou Calligraphy and Painting Academy. The exhibition is guided by School of Crafts of China Academy of Art, sponsored by Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports of Haiyan, organized by Li Zihou Calligraphy and Painting Academy and Cultural Center of Haiyan, and co-organized by Kaiming Painting Academy of the Central Committee of China Association for Promoting Democracy. The exhibition will last until October 25, 2024. |
