Located in the southeast sea of Qinshan, a town of Haiyan, White Tower Mountain Islands has the largest number of islands in northern Zhejiang, and is the closest to the coast (about 1.5 nautical miles away from the coast). It is called White Tower Mountain Islands because it has a white tower like a mountain on the Islands for hundreds of years. Originally it was connected to the mainland, but it has been separate from the mainland and become a continental island since the Tang Dynasty (618-907) due to the changes of the coastline.

No one settles in the Islands so far, and the natural ecology is fine with numerous seabirds, lush plants such as bamboos, towering ancient trees like 100-year-old camphor trees, so it is an ideal resort.

Running from southwest to northeast, the White Tower Mountain Islands covers an area of 0.416 square kilometers, about 2,000 meters long and 700 meters wide. It is made up of White Tower Mountain Island, Mayao Island, Zhuxiao Island, North Reef and Outer Reef.

As the main island of the Islands, White Tower Mountain Island is 48 meters high and covers an area of about 0.2 square kilometers. With a dock for pleasure boats, this island is a natural harbor. On the island, there is cloud tea and fantastic natural scenes like Lugong Stone and Spouse Tree.

Mayao Island, also called No. 2 Mountain, covers area of 0.138 square kilometers and is 38.04 meters high. A large number of wild birds and animals such as rabbits, ibexes, ducks etc. live in the bushes of the Island, on which there are many spectacular natural scenes like gorgeous Sky Watching Cave, canyons and ditches.

Zhuxiao Island, also No. 3 Mountain, is 39.01 meters high and covers an area of 0.075 square kilometers. On this island there is Wild Duck Land, Sea Watching Platform, terrific flat land on the mountain range, and fantastic stones. The site of the White Tower is an ideal place to watch mirages.

With an area of about 2,500 square meters, the North Reef is 6.2 meters high. It is located in the northernmost part of the White Tower Mountain Islands, so it is called the North Reef.
