Efforts Made in Economic Development Zone of Haiyan to Enhance Urban Functions and Core Competitiveness

  • Since the beginning of this year, Economic Development of Haiyan has expanded its urban space to create an optimal business environment in the support of the great improvement of its urban functions and core competitiveness.

    The permanent resident population and the number of the industrial enterprises above the designated size of this development respectively totaled 90,000 and 158 whose annual production output value reached 43.7 billion yuan in 2021, but those respectively totaled 92,000 and 170 whose annual output value reached 47.7 billion yuan in 2022, which indicates a rising number of high-quality enterprises and immigrants choose this zone for their further development.

    Selling fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, foods, etc. and daily necessities, Hualian Supermarket of Shanghai was open for the public in this development zone two days ago. It is the third chain supermarket invested by Hangzhou Bay Development Group Co., Ltd. located in this development zone. The opening of the chain supermarkets has indicated the business services, urban functions and core competitiveness of the development zone have been further upgraded, said Zhang Yang, a local employee.

    On the construction site of the talent apartment of this development zone, constructors are working hard to build its main building. With a garden, a bookstore, a gym, a reception room and a bar in the air, this apartment is big enough to accommodate 1,004 households and is to be put into use in 2024.

    Based on its good location, strong industrial basis and profound urban and rural culture, this development zone has been upgrading the facilities used for tourism, business, trade, education, living and the elderly care in recent years to strive to build a sub-center of Haiyan and a costal new city. Now, Center Plaza, Garden of Ancient Town, Digital Talent Apartment and Costal Food Plaza have started their construction with a view to building a 15-minute life and service circle for local residents.

    The infrastructure is a key to optimizing business environment. As a main industrial platform of the county, this development zone has started to construct more than 20 projects since the beginning of the year such as high-standard workshops, roads, etc.   

    In the future, this development zone will continue to integrate industrial development into life and urban development to achieve the target that industrial development and rural development are well integrated in the built up urban area.
