In 2022, Haiyan County enlarged the investment in constructing major transport projects and transport networks, started to construct Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo High-speed Railway and Shanghai-Pinghu-Haiyan Intercity Railway. The investment in transport projects increased by 40% year on year. In 2023, the county will continue to construct transport projects such as expressways, high-speed railways and intercity railways to speed up the construction of modern transport networks and achieve a good start in transport investment to strengthen Haiyan’s integrated development with Shanghai and Hangzhou.

Hangzhou Bay Railway Bridge over the Hangzhou Bay is a key project of Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo High-speed Railway. With a length of 29.2 kilometers, this bridge spans the Hangzhou Bay between Cixi City and Haiyan County. After its operation, it will become the longest railway bridge over the sea with the most advanced technologies in the world.

Jiaxing-Haiyan Expressway is an important part of Jiaxing’s “One Circle plus Eleven Expressways” project to promote Jiaxing’s integrated development. Its operation will well integrate Haiyan into Jiaixing’s development. With a length of 27.5 kilometers, this expressway runs from the intersection of Changshui Road and Sanhuan Road (E) of Jiaxing to the intersection of Haiyan-Yucheng Highway and Jiaxing-Nanbeihu Highway. The construction of this expressway started in June 2022. The Haiyan-Yucheng Highway is to link the Jiaxing-Haiyan Expressway and the county seat of Haiyan after it is broadened. It will take people just half an hour, much shorter than before, to drive from Haiyan to Jiaxing after the Jiaxing-Haiyan Expressway is open to traffic.

In recent years, the county has taken the construction of major transport projects as a main driving force to propel a new round of development. In 2023, the county will accelerate the construction of transport projects, remove the bottlenecks appearing in the construction of major transport projects and ensure the upgrading of Nanbeihu Interchange of Hangzhou-Pudong Expressway and Haiyan-Yucheng Highway and the start of the construction of multimodal transport projects and the Expressway (Phrase I) Connecting Haiyan and Hangzhou-Pudong Expressway.
