The Outdoor Sports and Leisure Base of South-north Lake was selected as a province-level sports, leisure and tourism demonstration base according to the assessment results of sports, leisure and tourism demonstration bases, quality routes and quality projects of Zhejiang of 2022.

Scenic Area of South-north Lake is rich in natural and cultural tourist resources. As the only scenic area of China integrating the scenes of the mountain, sea and lake, it is a national 4A tourist attraction, one of the first province-level scenic areas of Zhejiang and the best resort of Zhejiang. In recent years, it has developed sports and tourism industries, further improved its brand and standardized management, surveyed the demand and development trend of outdoor sports and set specific development goals and directions to provide high-quality and more efficient services for citizens and tourists. “With the prosperity of outdoor sports, an increasing number of people have travelled to this scenic area. By restoring existing greenways and connecting natural scenic spots and cultural landscapes, two greenways have been put into operation. One is the eight-kilometer-long lakeside corridor and the other 39-kilometer-long mountain greenway,” said Tang Lindan, assistant manager of Tourism Investment Group of Haiyan.

Based on its own advantages, the Scenic Area of South-north Lake has implemented its outdoor sports concept themed by “Green tours to South-north Lake to enjoy water, land and air-based sports” and created a number of influential and high-quality sports brands such as the hiking-themed conference, mountain running race, half marathon, green cycling, cross-wetland driving, waterfront yoga and camping conference, all of which now have achieved remarkable progress and become tourists’ favorites.

This selection was jointly carried out by the Sports Bureau of Zhejiang and Department of Culture and Tourism of Zhejiang, which selected ten province-level sports and tourism demonstration bases, nine province-level quality sports and tourism quality routes and 35 province-level quality sports and tourism projects of Zhejiang.
