Haiyan is located in the central areas of the Yangtze River Delta, and is among such famous cities as Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou and Ningbo, so it enjoys a special advantage in integration into the development of the Yangtze River Delta. Since the beginning of the year, the county has accelerated its integration into the Yangtze River Delta, planned its three-dimensional transportation structure, and a modern, convenient, intelligent and comprehensive transportation system has come into being made up of highways, railways and waterways, which strongly supports the construction of the county with excellent industries, beautiful environment and elegant life.

To endeavor to build a railway network

The county will energetically support the preliminary construction of Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo Railway, Shanghai-Pinghu-Haiyan Railway and the extended project of Hangzhou-Haining Railway, accelerate the construction of the first railway of Haiyan, shorten the distance between Haiyan and Shanghai, Nanjing and Hangzhou to build Haiyan into a transportation hub.

To accelerate the construction of the road network

According to the standard that buses are available to all villages, the county will focus on the road network construction, improve road network structures, accelerate expressways construction, enhance traffic capacity, strengthen Haiyan’s connectivity with its neighboring counties, county-level counties and the rest of the Yangtze River Delta, eliminate dead-end roads and shorten the drive time to half an hour between Haiyan and Jiaxing’s urban areas.

To enhance the capacity of waterways

The county will implement the renaissance strategy of waterways, give full play to the advantages of seas and inland rivers, strengthen the river-sea joint transportation, set up river-sea-railway joint transportation logistics systems serving the Yangtze River Delta regions, connecting the Grand Canal and the Yangtze River, and build an important river-sea-railway joint transportation logistics hub of the north bank of the Hangzhou Bay.

To improve public transport networks

In order to facilitate people’s travel, the county will create comfortable and safe travel conditions, i.e., enhance the quality of rural roads to get buses available to all villages by the end of this year, perfect the construction of bus stops, optimize the structure of bus routes, improve the bus routes linking airports, high-way speed stations and bus stops nearby, improve the passenger transportation lines linking Pudong International Airport and Xiaoshan International Airport, open the direct bus line between Haiyan and Jiaxing High-speed Railway Station, propel urban transportation connectivity, and make public traffic cards issued by Haiyan available to over 260 prefecture-level cities including Shanghai by the end of the year.
