The so-called saozi ge is a kind of rap, adapted from literay works, performed in Haiyan dialect, telling stories, creating characters, expressing a certain feeling close to the local life. Saozi ge is unique with its own characteristics. The performer can stand, walk or sit while performing. Saozi ge, ballad on buddhist ritual, shares to some extent the same origin with Haiyan Qiang--one of the four primitive schools of south Chinese opera.
