Tianning Temple, a Buddhist temple originated from Han Dynasty(202BC--220AD), was first named "Zen Temple". The present name was given by an emperor of Song Dynasty in 1105. The temple consists of halls, pavillion, tower, clock tower , kiosks and gallery.Qianfo Pavillion was first built in Tang Dynasty(618-907).It is called No.1 pavillion in Zhejiang province by Chen Congzhou, a renowned expert in ancient architecture, because of its magnificent design, and carving."According to local customs, a grand gathering will be hosted here on June 19 of Chinese lunar year (Guanyin's birthday).
